Race Verdict

BATTLE GROUP remains a maiden over fences after six starts but is a five-time winner over hurdles and would take all the beating in this grade if reproducing the pick of his best form over the larger obstacles, which include placed efforts in Listed handicaps at both the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals this year. Beggar's Velvet carries a penalty for his emphatic victory at Uttoxeter earlier in the month and merits shortlist inclusion along with recent C&D runner-up Valento.

Selection: Battle Group        Danger: Beggar's Velvet        Alternative: Valento
