Race Verdict

Greek War made a mockery of his opening handicap mark of 78 when romping his way to a six length success in 0-80 company over track and trip last time and, although this demands immediate improvement off 14lb higher now up in grade, he looks the pick of the Godolphin duo and is entitled to be thereabouts. Marginal preference, however, is for FENNELL BAY, who showed a likeable attitude when scoring at Royal Ascot and will not be fazed by any juice in the ground, should conditions deteriorate. Stablemate Hajras, runner-up in a warm race at Newbury when last sighted, and handicap debutant Nabucco, representing a John Gosden yard that can do no wrong at present, complete the shortlist.

Selection: Fennell Bay        Danger: Greek War        Alternative: Hajras
