Racing Division

British racing operates in a complex and ever-changing way. The Rules of Racing are extensive and are frequently amended; financial incentives such as the VAT Scheme for Racehorse Owners and the recent Bonus Schemes emerge and evolve. Weatherbys’ Racing Division exists to put into effect the wishes of British racing – accurately, professionally and at minimum cost and hassle to the individuals and organisations involved.

Much of our work is done under a contract with British Racing’s governing body, the British Horseracing Authority. Under this contract, through the various registration and other processes involved, we build up and maintain a massive database of all the ‘players’ in racing, (both human and equine), their interrelationships, etc. In turn, this enables us to provide the pre-race information on which racing’s spectators and punters depend, and ensures that millions of payments (prize money, registration fees, etc.), to and from racecourses, owners, trainers, jockeys and others, are charged, collected and credited with the minimum of drama.

Put simply, what we do enables racing to take place day-in, day-out; year-in, year-out and our team is in the office 364 days each year* to achieve this.

In addition, we work directly for many other organisations within British racing, including the Racecourse Association, Horsemen’s Group, Levy Board, Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, Racehorse Owners Association, National Trainers Federation, Professional Jockeys Association, Point to Point Authority and Amateur Jockeys Association.
