The Privilege Access Swipe System, or PASS as it is more commonly referred to, was created by Weatherbys on behalf of the Racecourse Association (RCA) to provide hassle free racecourse admission for owners and trainers entitled to complimentary admittance.
Administered by Weatherbys, PASS cards are held by all owners and trainers and are automatically sent to all new owners upon their horse receiving its first race entry. This card remains valid throughout their period of racehorse ownership as it is automatically updated to reflect any future equine sales or purchases. We also issue PASS cards to trainers, jockeys and journalists in addition to the Members and Directors of the British Horseracing Authority, the Jockey Club and the Levy Board.
On a raceday, we send a file of everyone entitled to complimentary admission to the participating racecourse and then, upon arrival, the PASS card is swiped through a reader which then confirms how many complimentary badges to issue.
There can be a range of problems associated with using traditional methods of sending tickets and badges by post. The costs alone for a racecourse can soon mount up over a busy season whilst strikes and bad weather can also cause delays resulting in a disappointing experience for owners.
