John Gosden considers racecourse gallop for Derby dark horse Royal Artillery

John Gosden is keen to get a racecourse gallop into impressive maiden winner Royal Artillery before exploring his options.

The Coolmore-owned son of War Front went into many notebooks when casting aside his rivals in taking fashion on his debut at Doncaster in October.

Although holding an entry in both the Investec Derby, which he is a general 20-1 shot for, and the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, the Newmarket handler has yet to firm up any future plans.

He said: "Royal Artillery worked nicely on Wednesday morning. There is no race for him in England at the moment as he has not got a rating, unless he was going for the 2000 Guineas which he is not.

"I might try to get a racecourse gallop into him somewhere first, but where I don't know."
