The catalogue for the 2016 Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up and Horses in Training Sale can now be viewed online at www.tattersalls.com. Numbering 170 breeze up two year olds and 82 horses in training, the sale takes place April 28th - 29th, with the two year olds breezing at Newmarket's Rowley Mile Racecourse on Thursday 28th April starting at 9.00am.

Guineas Breeze Up graduates enjoyed an outstanding year on the racecourse in 2015 with an impressive 19 Group/Listed performers headlined by Group 1 Ascot Gold Cup winner TRIP TO PARIS (pictured, left) who was purchased for 20,000 guineas. Already in 2016 Guineas Breeze Up Group and Listed winners have included Group 3 Winter Derby winner GRENDISAR and Listed winning and Group 2 placed MORE ASPEN.

No less than 37 of the sires with two year olds catalogued have already sired Classic or Group 1 winners, including ACCLAMATION, CAPE CROSS, CHOISIR, DARK ANGEL, HIGH CHAPARRAL, HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR, KODIAC, KYLLACHY, LAWMAN, LE HAVRE, LONHRO, LOPE DE VEGA, MASTERCRAFTSMAN, NEW APPROACH and PIVOTAL. Top class overseas based sires also feature prominently, with proven Group/Grade 1 USA based sires ELUSIVE QUALITY, EXCHANGE RATE, MIZZEN MAST and STREET CRY all well represented.

In addition there are 16 first crop sires with two year old catalogued including Group 1 performers BATED BREATH, BORN TO SEA, CASAMENTO, DELEGATOR, DRAGON PULSE, EXCELEBRATION, FOXWEDGE, MAYSON, POWER, SEPOY and HELMET, whose first two British runners were impressive winners.

The Horses in Training section of the Guineas Sale has quickly established itself as a consistent source of high class performers and the 2016 renewal boasts five Group and Listed performers as well as 15 lots with an official rating of 80 or higher. Those that look likely to attract plenty of attention include the Marco Botti trained CRAZY CHIC, recent winner of his latest start over 7 furlongs and rated 97, John Gosden’s progressive winning 3 year old ALWAYS WELCOME, the 90 rated 4 year old NUNO TRISTAN, winner and placed in three of his last five starts, and Jeremy Noseda’s 95 rated IAN’S MEMORY who has won or been placed in seven of his last nine starts. Other interesting prospects include Michael Dods’ 90 rated three time winning sprinter DRAGON KING, and the once raced John Oxx-trained MY FANTASEA, a 3 year old son of SEA THE STARS who was an eyecatching fourth in a decent Dundalk maiden on April 1st.

Owners and trainers also have the added incentive of more than 50 breeze up two year olds eligible for the Plus 10 Bonus Scheme, six eligible for lucrative French Premiums, a further three entered for the 300,000 Euros Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Stakes, and one lot entered for the £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus and another for next year’s Swedish Classics.

Commenting on the catalogue, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said: “20,000 guineas Group 1 Ascot Gold Cup winner TRIP TO PARIS has been a magnificent advertisement for the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up and Horses in Training Sale and this year’s catalogue has an abundance of quality two year olds in training as well as high class proven horses in training. The combination of breeze up horses with older horses in training has proved to be a popular format and we are confident that we have a catalogue which will appeal to buyers from Britain, Ireland and further afield."

The full breeze will be shown live on Racing UK (Sky Channel 432 and Virgin Media Channel 536) at 9am on Thursday 28th April and catalogues will be available from Tattersalls and from all Tattersalls overseas representatives from Tuesday 12th April.
