Good to go at Newcastle

This afternoon's jumps fixture at Newcastle has passed a precautionary 7am inspection and goes ahead as planned.

Clerk of the course James Armstrong needed to assess conditions due to the threat of waterlogging.

But he was happy with what he found at daybreak and gave the card the go-ahead.

He tweeted: "Racing goes ahead. Going most definitely heavy."

Newcastle is also due to stage a National Hunt card on Sunday, but no problems are anticipated.
