Rastrelli too good at Newbury for in-form Charlie Appleby

Charlie Appleby followed up a highly successful Craven meeting when Rastrelli took the Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup British EBF Conditions Stakes at Newbury.

After Blazing Tunder had made the early running, Tigre Du Terre kicked on three furlongs out but he could not not shake off the attentions of Rastrelli (9-2) and Bombyx, and it was the former who obliged by two and a quarter lengths.

Jockey William Buick said: "He stayed the trip well and I think that ground suits him, he handled it well. The door closed on me three (furlongs) out but it was good that it did because he would have got there too soon. He soon gathered himself up and regained his momentum."
