Brian Hamilton reveals Listowel option for Twilight Shadow

County Down handler Brian Hamilton is eyeing a potential trip to Listowel for Twilight Shadow, who fell at the last at Downpatrick when holding every chance.

The five-year-old mare was stepped up in trip for a two-mile-seven handicap hurdle earlier this month which now gives Hamilton further options.

Twilight Shadow had won an extended two-and-a-quarter-mile maiden hurdle at Downpatrick in May and is reported in good order.

Hamilton said: "She's not a bad wee mare.

"She's a wee bit sore since she came back, she twisted her back.

"Declan (Lavery) thought she would win as he had plenty of horse under him.

"Once she's better she might run in Listowel. Two-mile-four might be a better trip for her."

On the same August card, stablemate Bertie Bell took fourth in a maiden hurdle behind Miro.

Hamilton believes the former point-to-point and bumper winner will come on for the run.

He said: "That was his first time over hurdles and it was an above-average race.

"He will improve for jumping, his jumping didn't help him in the race.

"He is a possibility for Downpatrick on the Bank Holiday at the end of August.

"In a maiden hurdle over two-mile-five or two-mile-seven they might go a bit steadier.

"He has solid bumper form."
