The Duchess of Cornwall has accepted an invitation to become an honorary member of the Jockey Club.

The Duchess of Cornwall has accepted an invitation to become an honorary member of the Jockey Club.

Members of the Jockey Club are appointed on account of their knowledge and experience of racing alongside a commitment to help the organisation in its mission of acting for the good of British racing.

The Duchess regularly attends the Cheltenham Festival and owns horses with the Prince of Wales, who is also an honorary member of the Jockey Club.

Roger Weatherby, senior steward of the Jockey Club, said: "We are honoured and delighted that Her Royal Highness has accepted our invitation to become an Honorary Member of the Jockey Club.

"The Duchess' love of horses and horseracing is well known, along with her support for equine charities and disciplines generally.

"Racing is part of the fabric of British national life and the Jockey Club's sole mission is to support its long-term health."
