Rain forces Wetherby to abandon

This afternoon's meeting at Wetherby has been abandoned with an inspection planned for 8am today ahead of tomorrow's meeting.

Clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson had planned to assess conditions for the Boxing Day card, which was due to feature the Rowland Meyrick Chase, at 8am today.

However, flooding at the track prompted an earlier decision and Sunday's meeting is now also in doubt.

Sanderson said: "We've had 32 millimetres of rain since yesterday lunch time and it is still raining now.

"The dykes down the back straight have flooded so that is our problem, not waterlogging.

"It's forecast to continue raining today so it's not going to improve and it's not looking great for tomorrow.

"We will inspect at 8am and see where we are."
