Kayf Grace looks smart on hurdling debut at Bangor

Cheltenham Festival prospect Kayf Grace made her class count to open her account at the first time of asking in the BangorBET "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle at Bangor.

Despite failing to win her first three bumpers, the six-year-old followed up an odds-on success at Fakenham with victory in a Grade Two at Aintree's Grand National meeting in the spring.

Sent off a 2-7 chance to land this extended two-mile prize on her seasonal return, and hurdling bow, the Nicky Henderson-trained mare did not disappoint, defeating recent Uttoxeter winner Report To Base by two and a half lengths.

Henderson was at Cheltenham, where he said: "From what I saw she looked good. She travelled and jumped well, but she was expected to win that. She is good and doesn't need a lot of work. It was important to get her out today.

"We might let her do that again in a novice race, but it depends where the races fall.

"There is a Listed race coming up in a couple of weeks' time and Theatre Territory, who won on Tuesday (at Uttoxeter), could come back for that but Kayf Grace won't.

"I'd like to think that the Trull House Stud Mares' Novices' Hurdle will be the long-term target."
