Nicky Richards considering options for Eduard

Nicky Richards is considering easing Eduard in grade for a tilt at the Lavazza Jolie Silver Cup Chase at Ascot on Saturday week.

Although the Grade Two-winning chaser also holds an entry in the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown later in the month, the Greystoke handler is leaning towards making the three-mile Listed handicap his next target.

The nine-year-old made a satisfactory return to action after more than a year and a half on the sidelines when finishing fourth in a Grade Two at the Berkshire track last month.

Richards said: "The handicapper dropped him four pounds for his last run and I am tempted to try him in a handicap. We might go to Ascot for the Silver Cup, as If he is going to win a big handicap it might be now.

"He is entered in the Lexus and we might have a look at that and there is also the Rowland Meyrick at Wetherby. Those are his three options.

"He ran a good race on his comeback. Mid-race his jumping got a little bit sloppy. He jumped the third-last well and if he had gone over the second-last well he might nearly have won, as he jumped the final fence well.

"He has always been a good horse and that showed he is still a good horse."
