Stallion Book Snippets: Epiphaneia was bred to be good, as a son of two champions - Symboli Kris S and Cesario - and a half-brother to another two champions in Leontes and Saturnalia.

He maintained family honour by winning the Kikuka Sho (Japanese St Leger) by five lengths and Japan Cup by four lengths, and he now seems to be passing on greatness at stud.

According to the Weatherbys Stallion Book his first crop of three-year-olds, numbering 161 foals, has yielded 71 winners.

Besides Daring Tact, who won the Japanese 1,000 Guineas, Oaks and Shuka Sho before running a close third to Almond Eye in the Japan Cup in November, his best performers include Tokyo Listed winner Orthoclase and nine other black-type performers.

Epiphaneia stands at Shadai Stallion Station at a fee of 10 million yen.
