Malmoos, whose first crop will be yearlings in the 2024/25 southern hemisphere season, has an outstanding stallion’s pedigree.
He is by former South African champion sire Captain Al out of Turffontein Listed winner Justthewayyouare, who is by another of the country’s late leading stallions, Fort Wood. He is therefore a full-brother to multiple Pattern scorer Captain Splendid.
The dam is a half-sister to leading young South African sire Master Of My Fate out of the country’s champion three-year-old filly Promisefrommyheart, who in turn is a half-sister to Covenant, the Group 1-winning dam of young South African sire Erik The Red, and Secret Heart, the Group 1-placed dam of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf victor Pluck.
Malmoos lived up to that illustrious pedigree by winning the South African Derby by five and a quarter lengths and the SA Classic by two lengths, and also collecting the country’s Triple Crown.
He stands at Ridgemont at a fee of R25,00.
