Bangor and Uttoxeter beaten by weather

Friday's meeting at Bangor and Saturday's Uttoxeter card have been abandoned due to waterlogging.

Course officials at Bangor moved forward their intended 8am inspection once the situation was found to have been untenable at daybreak.

Though there is a forecast for a sustained dry spell, heavy rain earlier in the week exacerbated an already bleak picture - part largely to severe downpours during December which resulted in unusually high river levels.

With the two intended chase races at the meeting having gone west earlier in the week, Uttoxeter clerk of the course Charlie Moore made an early call to draw stumps on Thursday morning.

The situation has improvement slightly, but the damage has already been done. Further showers are also expected on Friday.

A statement issued by the track read: "Despite drier conditions, the course remains waterlogged, with insufficient improvement to suggest it will be safe to race on Saturday - even if the track misses the forecast rain."
