Dean Ivory praise for Chelmsford star Kadrizzi

Dean Ivory has enjoyed considerable success with sprinters over the years and Kadrizzi can be counted as the latest addition to that list after claiming his most valuable success to date in the totequadpot Conditions Stakes at Chelmsford.

While still a way to go to match the exploits of Tropics and Lancelot Du Lac, the three-year-old showed he is heading in the right direction when securing his ticket to All-Weather Championship Finals Day with victory in the penultimate 3 Year Old Sprint fast-track qualifier.

Racing up with the pace throughout the five-furlong event, the 7-2 chance joined early leader Field Of Vision late on before posting a half-length success to follow up his recent Lingfield win, with the wide-running 4-6 favourite Gracious John the same distance back in third.

Ivory said: "He won lovely. I run him at Chelmsford City before but he didn't seem to handle it.

"We are limited as to where we can go and you have got to go where the races are.

"If I'm honest, he was coughing last week and he was not 100 per cent.

"I did think I won't run him but Thursday he seemed better and on Saturday he was nearly himself but you never know how much it takes out of them.

"It's a long a time between now and the Finals Day and I didn't want to just keep him ticking over at home.

"I might just stop off at Wolverhampton next month with him before going to Lingfield."

Brother Tiger (6-1) demonstrated what he is capable off when things fall in his favour after shattering the five-furlong track record in the toteexacta Handicap.

Making all of the running under John Egan, the seven-year-old was not for catching as he crossed the line two lengths clear of runner-up Apache Storm in a time of 57.30 seconds.

Griffiths said: "We've always thought a real lot of him, he just needs it all his own way.

"When he does get it his own way, he is very smart.

"There are a lot of options for him. He could go for the Hever Stakes at Lingfield at the end of the month or for a 0-105 handicap there, or for one back here."

Racecourse commentator and presenter Richard Hoiles was given a surprise 50th birthday present after Supersta (5-1) chalked up a third course win in the totetrifecta Handicap.

The Mick Appleby-trained five-year-old made good late headway to foil One Pekan by a length and a half and give Hoiles, who is part of the Rod In A Pickle Partnership, a birthday winner as an owner.

Appleby said: "We just freshened him up and he seems to have come back in good order so we will keep him going."

Keith Dalgleish is likely to make more trips to Chelmsford after Biff Johnson (4-5 favourite) followed up his success at the course on Thursday when defying a 6lb in the toteplacepot Handicap.

The Carluke handler said: "He didn't get as smooth a run as time and obviously with that that penalty he needed every yard of the trip to get on top.

"We were running him quite quick so he may have been feeling a bit flat.

"I think the set of cheekpieces have helped as they have just made him focus a bit more."

The Peter Charalambous-trained Theydon Grey (8-1) preserved his unbeaten record at the track when making it two wins from as many visits in the toteswinger Handicap.

The concluding mytotepool.com Maiden Stakes went the way of 2-9 favourite Town's History from the yard of Saeed bin Suroor.
