Josses Hill peaks at Kempton for red-hot Nico de Boinville

Josses Hill put past frustrations over fences behind him when taking the Racing UK 3 Devices 1 Price Graduation Chase at Kempton to form the highlight of a career-first 170-1 four-timer for jockey Nico de Boinville.

While yet to fully convince in six previous starts over the larger obstacles, including when finishing runner-up in this race 12 months ago, the eight-year-old saw his talent come through to reverse last year's Arkle form with God's Own.

Despite jumping big over the first few fences, the 10-11 favourite, who was making his first start since taking a crashing fall in the Tingle Creek, settled into a good rhythm at the head of the field before seeing off the Tom George-trained runner by eight lengths.

Trainer Nicky Henderson said: "That was the perfect race for him and it was good to get that confidence into him. He was a good third in the Arkle but he is better going right-handed - the better the pace, the better he is.

"The Ryanair is the much more likely race, while Punchestown would be good fun. He'll have gained plenty of confidence from that as it was a shocking fall he had at Sandown. That was the best he's ever jumped. He is talented but his mark is ferocious for being third in the Arkle."

The Gold Cup-winning jockey completed a red-letter day in the saddle when teaming up with the Lambourn handler to take the second division of the bumper with 5-1 chance Stowaway Magic.

De Boinville said: "It's been a great day and I've never ridden more than a double before so I am a happy boy. I'm very lucky that I've been supported by nice trainers and horses. It's all about getting on the right ones."

Silvergrove (3-1 favourite) did what was required to bolster his chances of lining up at the Cheltenham Festival when forming the third leg of De Boinville's four-timer in the Rasher Frifth Memorial Handicap Chase.

Trainer Ben Pauling said: "He had to do that to get into the weights of the Ultima Business Solutions Handicap Chase. That could be an option, while he will also get an entry into the Kim Muir.

"He is so brave in front. He is the type of horse you want to go to war with."

Pauling and De Boinville earlier combined to good effect to take the racinguk.com/winterseasonticket Novices' Hurdle with dual bumper winner Ballyhenry (11-4).

Having undergone a breathing operation since his tame debut effort over hurdles at Newbury in November, the six-year-old looked back on track, holding Grade Two-winning hurdler Label Des Obeaux by two and a quarter lengths.

Pauling said: " We gave him a wind operation but you are never sure how they come out of it. His jumping was a bit slow early doors but as the pace quickened he jumped nicely."

Tom George has his eye on a trip to Newbury next month for Always On The Run (7-2 favourite) following his victory in an eventful Racing UK In HD Next Month Novices' Limited Handicap Chase.

George said: "The better ground has helped. He was a bit too fresh over two and a half (miles) at Warwick last time out. There's a race at Newbury I've done quite well in over the years and I said to Jason (Maguire) that we will try and win here then go there."

Alan King nominated the DBS Spring Sales Bumper at Newbury for Sir Antony Browne (9-1) after he demonstrated a smart turn of foot to take the opening division of the bumper.
