Martin Keighley happy to wait with Festival-bound Solstice Star

Martin Keighley has decided against sending his prolific winner Solstice Star out again quickly for Saturday's Dribuild Limited Welsh Champion Hurdle at Ffos Las.

The six-year-old has improved in leaps and bounds this season, with last weekend's success at Cheltenham his fifth on the bounce.

With a new handicap mark of 134, Keighley is now content to sit and wait to see which handicaps at the Cheltenham Festival he could make the cut for.

"He won't go to Ffos Las. He's got a mark of 134 now and that will be right on the borderline of the likes of the Coral Cup and County Hurdle, but it should get him in the Martin Pipe," said Keighley.

"We'll enter him in them all and hope to get in one of them.

"He's been unbelievable this season, he keeps surprising me. He won as easy as ever on Saturday in his toughest race, so he's obviously thriving and full of confidence.

"He certainly deserves his place at the Festival and I just hope there's a bit of cut in the ground.

"We know he stays further than two miles but with the ground being so heavy and him being able to handle it better than others, two miles has suited him.

"If it's not as soft in March, he'll probably step up in trip."
