Uttoxeter makes early call to abandon Saturday fixture

Uttoxeter's all-hurdles card on Saturday has become the latest casualty of waterlogging.

With the two intended chase races at the meeting having went west earlier in the week, clerk of the course Charlie Moore made an early call to draw stumps on Thursday morning.

The situation has improvement slightly, but the damage had already been done.

Further showers were also expected on Friday.

A statement issued by the track read: "Despite drier conditions, the course remains waterlogged, with insufficient improvement to suggest it will be safe to race on Saturday - even if the track misses the forecast rain."
