Wayne Hutchinson set for swift return to the saddle

Wayne Hutchinson is likely to return to the saddle before the end of the week after what turned out to be a very costly fall at Doncaster on Friday.

The leading jockey suffered a foot injury when he came to grief aboard The Tourard Man and was forced to watch from the sidelines as his boss Alan King saddled five winners at Doncaster and Cheltenham on Saturday.

Hutchinson missed out on the ride on runaway BetBright Trial Chase winner Smad Place and is itching to return to action, according to his agent, Chris Broad.

Broad said: "He's going to Oaksey House to have a bit of treatment to help with his recovery.

"I spoke to him on Sunday and while the swelling hasn't completely gone down, he said he felt more comfortable on his foot than he had the previous day, which is encouraging.

"Alan said he wouldn't be having many runners over the next few days anyway, so we'll just make sure we get the foot right.

"Hopefully he'll only be out for a few days and we can start banging away again.

"I know Wayne was delighted for Alan on Saturday. Big days like that can only make the yard stronger and that's good news for everyone involved.

"Obviously it was a bit frustrating to miss the ride on Smad Place, having given him a brilliant ride to win the Hennessy, but that's the way it goes.

"It's a funny old game at times."
