Quality Doncaster Breeze Up Sale catalogue now online

A quality line-up of two-year-olds have been catalogued for the 2018 Goffs UK Breeze Up Sale at Doncaster with 207 horses entered from Europe’s leading Breeze Up consignors.

The Doncaster Breeze Up Sale’s ongoing success has seen it enjoy another strong year on the track. Following a superb 2016 where the sale enjoyed four Royal Ascot winners and 37 two-year-old winners which was Europe’s best, 2017 saw its number of juvenile winners grow to 44 and for the second year running claim the title as Europe’s best for 2YO winners. 

2017 saw sale graduates win 200 races worldwide and they included ABEL HANDY who won the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes on his Group debut and final race of his 2YO season, Group 1 winner QUIET REFLECTION who claimed the Group 3 Renaissance Stakes and NOW OR LATER who was victorious in the Group 2 Blazer Stakes in Australia’s Melbourne Spring Carnival. 

Following last year’s initiative, every horse in the catalogue is nominated for the €1,000,000 2019 Swedish Derby & Oaks Series and some of the many highlights in the catalogue, which feature entries by leading sires from America, Australia and Europe, include: 

  • Lot 1, a Mayson half-brother to the dual Listed winner and Gr.3 placed PROFESSOR
  • 3, a Dark Angel half-brother to the Gr.3 winner EASTERN IMPACT and an own-brother to the Stakes winner MISS KATIE MAE
  • 11, a Kodiac half-brother to the Gr.3 winner HAMZA and out of a half-sister to the Gr.2 winner ANTHEM ALEXANDA and sire DANDY MAN
  • 17, an Intello colt out of the Listed winning Invincible Spirit mare LIBYS DREAM.
  • 19, a Kodiac half-brother to the Listed winner and Gr.3 placed TIGRILLA.
  • 38, a Farhh half-sister to the Listed winner and Gr.2 placed ROSA GRACE
  • 49, an Exceed And Excel filly out of the Gr.3 winner PRINCESS IRIS
  • 60, a Dark Angel filly out of the Listed winning mare RISKIT FOR A BISKIT. 
  • 70, a Noble Mission colt out of the Gr.2 winner SARAH’S SECRET
  • 112, a More Than Ready colt out of a Storm Cat half-sister to the Gr.1 winner ETOILE MONTANTE
  • 135, a half-brother to the Listed winner and Gr.2 placed SECOND THOUGHT and from the family of Gr.1 winner SKY LANTERN
  • 137, an Olympic Glory filly out of the Listed placed New Approach mare Broadway Justice
  • 139, a Born To Sea half-sister to the Royal Ascot Gr.2 Coventry Stakes winner RAJASINGHE
  • 147, a Charm Spirit half-brother to the Gr.2 winner JUNIPER PASS.  
  • 149, a Scat Daddy colt out of the Listed winner and Gr.1 placed mare COME TO HEEL
  • 178, a Pivotal colt out of a Galileo half-sister to Gr.3 winners FANTASIA and PINK SYMPHONY and Blue Rhapsody, dam of Gr.2 winner WESTERN HYMN
  • 193, a Showcasing filly out of a half-sister to the Gr.1 winner GILT EDGE GIRL and Gr.2 winner GODFREY STREET
  • 195, a Zoffany half-brother to the Gr.2 winner GOODYEARFORROSES and out of the Listed placed Galileo mare Guilia. 

Other sires to feature include Bated Breath, Dandy Man, Dutch Art, Elusive Quality, Excelebration, Havana Gold, Holy Roman Emperor, Kyllachy, Lope de Vega, No Nay Never, Slade Power, Zebedee etc. 

Goffs UK Managing Director Tony Williams commented on the 2018 catalogue:

“Following last year’s record sale and another good year on the track, we were inundated with entries for 2018 and, as a result, the catalogue has increased in size reflecting the quality of entries received. The catalogue has certainly taken a step forward in 2018.

“This is Europe’s best Breeze-Up for 2YO winners and has also become a leading outlet for buyers looking for Royal Ascot horses. We will be visiting buyers around the world in the coming weeks to spread that message and look forward to welcoming an international audience to Doncaster on 9 and 10 April."

The Breeze Up will be held at Doncaster Racecourse, located immediately opposite the Sale Complex, on Monday 9 April from 11am and films will be available to view online shortly following each lot’s breeze. 

The sale will be held the following day, Tuesday 10 April, from 10am.
