Goffs February Sale got off to a strong start today with a rise of 52% in both turnover and average and a top price of €130,000 that almost doubled that of last year’s opening day.

Demand for weanlings was topped by a beautiful daughter of Kodiac out of the highly rated Sindjara from Jockey Hall Stud (Lot 145) that sold to Timmy Hyde for €130,000. A Bated Breath colt from Ridge Manor Stud (Lot 164) took the next top spot when going to Goodwill Bloodstock for €70,000.

A well-related colt by Fastnet Rock was also amongst the highlights, selling as part of the draft from The Castlebridge Consignment (Lot 87) to Grangemore Stud to €62,000. Another to make the same price was a Kodiac filly out of an own sister to the Group 1 winner Favourable Terms. Consigned by Tullamaine Castle Stud (Lot 102), she was bought by MAB Agency. Just five lots beforehand Jamie Railton went to €55,000 to secure a colt by Australian sire Hallowed Crown, consigned by Ballybin Stud (Lot 97).

The horses in training section of the sale was headed by Karakour (Lot 67) from the Aga Khan Studs, a three year old son of Dalakhani who won first time out at Dundalk in January. He sold to Barry Lynch for €46,000 and has been bought to go to Singapore.
