Ayr officials call off Monday fixture due to waterlogging

Monday's meeting at Ayr has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Having been hit by snow on Friday and heavy rain on Saturday, officials at the Scottish circuit called an impromptu inspection for 9am on Sunday morning and swiftly drew stumps.

The track's head groundsman Graham Anderson said: "We were forecast five millimetres of rain on Saturday and ended up getting 15mm. We're forecast another 10mm today and we had a covering of snow on Friday, which obviously hasn't helped."
