David Elsworth outlines Lockinge aim for Arabian Queen

Arabian Queen is to start her four-year-old campaign dropping back to a mile for the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury in May.

Another likely target later in the season for the David Elsworth-trained filly would be the Juddmonte International at York, in which she lowered the colours of Derby and Arc hero Golden Horn last summer.

"She's got a lot of speed. We're not really sure whether she goes as far as a mile and a half," Elsworth told At The Races.

"The two runs she had were inconclusive. She under performed in France (in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe). She came back wrong and she ran a good race when we felt she was recovering something like her best form at Ascot (in the Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes).

"She certainly gets a mile and a quarter, although I think it was only a mile race at York because it was a mess up.

"She's certainly got enough speed for a mile and it will be the Lockinge to start with.

"We'll run in the better Group One races. The Juddmonte International would be an obvious target.

"She's a four-year-old now, the three-year-olds get weight allowances and there is sure to be some good three-year-olds emerging so we won't get over confident but that's the sort of target."
