Dean Ivory outlines Doncaster date for Sirius Prospect

Dean Ivory is to make the Lincoln the first major target of the year for multiple Listed-race scorer Sirius Prospect.

The Radlett handler is keen to run the evergreen eight-year-old in the mile prize, which is the traditional curtain-raiser of the turf Flat season.

After running over a mile and a quarter for the first time at Chelmsford earlier this month, finishing fourth behind Our Channel, Sirius Prospect is likely to have at least one more run on a synthetic surface before heading to Doncaster on April 2.

He said: "I was delighted with Sirius Prospect's run the other day as he was only 90 per cent fit and he needed to blow away the cobwebs.

"He is ready for another run and I think there is a nine-furlong race at Wolverhampton, then we will aim him at the Lincoln as he likes a bit of cut in the ground."

Ivory faces a race against time to get stablemate Lancelot Du Lac fit for the final of the Unibet Sprint Championship at Lingfield on Good Friday, after revealing the six-year-old suffered a setback following his victory in a fast-track qualifier at Chelmsford.

He said: "He has got a twisted knee and there is some heat in there at the moment.

"If he was good, there was a race at Lingfield on February 27, but he won't make that one so the plan is to go straight to the big one.

"He's a horse that always runs well fresh."
