Evan Williams waits on Paul Moloney news before making Tea In Transvaal plan

Evan Williams is waiting for an update on Paul Moloney's recovery from a broken leg before deciding whether to give Tea In Transvaal a prep run ahead of the new Grade Two Trull House Stud Mares' Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

Moloney is due to see a specialist on Thursday to see how the injury is healing after he suffered multiple fractures to his leg in a fall at Ludlow on December 2.

Should it look like Moloney will be able to return to action in time for the Festival, then Williams will send her straight there.

However, should Moloney be ruled out, then Tea In Transvaal would go to Cheltenham on Festival Trials Day on January 30 to give Adam Wedge the chance to ride her in public ahead of the big meeting.

"She's in serious order," said Williams of his five-year-old, who has won five of her six starts since joining the Vale of Glamorgan handler.

"She might have a prep run at Cheltenham on Trials Day if there is no chance of Paul Moloney coming back.

"If that was the case, she would have to have a run for Adam Wedge to get a bit of a feel of riding her.

"If Paul is going to come back for Cheltenham, she won't run before. We will wait for the Festival and wait for Paul.

"I spoke to Paul and he's got a very important date coming up with the specialist on the 14th. That will tell us exactly where we are.

"If the specialist is happy with him, there's a chance Paul could be back in February. Fingers crossed, all goes well."
