Jarlath Fahey considering Warwick option for Jennies Jewel

Jennies Jewel could return to Britain for her next start after running a fantastic race in defeat at Ascot on Saturday.

Jarlath Fahey's stable star was a 33-1 outsider for the OLBG.com Mares' Hurdle, but outran those odds to finish a clear second to a fellow Irish challenger in the form of the exciting Willie Mullins-trained mare Vroum Vroum Mag.

While a trip to the Cheltenham Festival is not on the agenda, Jennies Jewel could soon be on her travels again, with a Listed race at Warwick next month identified as a potential target.

"We were delighted with her. She ran a very good race and finished second to a very good mare," said Fahey.

"We were quietly confident of hitting the frame. She ran in a novice chase at Thurles a year ago and was only a couple of lengths behind Vroum Vroum Mag when she fell at the last. We thought if she came back to that form, and she showed she was coming back at Punchestown, she should run well.

"She won very well on the Flat at Galway at the start of the season, but when she went back over hurdles she lost her confidence a bit jumping-wise. She had a bit of a sore back, so we got that treated and freshened her up and she's come back well since. It was her jumping that was affected more than her galloping.

"There's a possibility she could go to Warwick (February 13) next, or there's a mares' conditions hurdle at Punchestown around the same time, so it will probably be one or the other of those.

"She's not entered for Cheltenham as the ground would probably be drying up too much for her there and two-and-a-half round there on the inside track is a bit sharp for her."
