Discussions with Sir Tony McCoy and Yogi Breisner led to Andy Stewart offering Pacha Du Polder to Victoria Pendleton as her likely mount in the St James Place Foxhunter Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

The dual Olympic gold medal-winning cyclist is to team up with the former Paul Nicholls-trained gelding, who is now in the hands of Chloe Roddick, for the remainder of the point-to-point campaign, before potentially becoming her ride in the three-and-a-quarter-mile amateur race in March.

Pendleton continued her education with two rides at a point-to-point meeting at Higham on Sunday, declaring herself "really pleased". She could partner Pacha Du Polder at Milborne St Andrew on Sunday.

Stewart said: "Victoria schooled Pacha Du Polder at the end of the week and she did very well with it. We are now looking forward to the Foxhunter and taking on On The Fringe again.

"It was not really in the pipeline. Sir Tony McCoy and Yogi Breisner spoke and we talked for four or five days about it.

"She had various options, but none that had the class of Pacha. He looked like he was going to win at Aintree, but then Nina (Carberry) swept past on On The Fringe.

"He should get the trip at Cheltenham now he is that year older. We will look after him and save his best until the spring."
