The Paul Nicholls-trained novice Modus has been installed as 12-1 favourite with the sponsors for the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury on February 13 after 75 entries were revealed.

Nicholls has six entries in Britain's richest handicap hurdle, worth £155,000, with All Yours, Le Prezien, Some Plan, Monsieur Gibraltar and Emerging Talent also on his team.

Nicky Henderson has won the race five times and his main hope appears to be Triumph Hurdle winner Peace And Co.

Sign Of A Victory, Days Of Heaven and Cardinal Walter could also represent Seven Barrows.

Oliver Sherwood has entered recent Sandown winner Rayvin Black, while the James Ewart-trained Aristo Du Plessis and Ali Stronge's Royal Guardsman have been given the option.

Stronge's husband, Sam, said: "We had to make the decision to enter Royal Guardsman in the Betfair Hurdle and will just play things by ear at the moment, as he will be towards the bottom of the weights off his current rating."

The Irish challenge, as usual, is led by Willie Mullins, who has entered Kalkir and Bamako Moriviere among his team of 14.

Noel Meade's De Name Escapes Me and the Gordon Elliott-trained Desoto County are also leading players.
