Morning Assembly closing in on return date

Morning Assembly is approaching his first run for nearly two years.

The Pat Fahy-trained nine-year-old was a top-class novice chaser in the 2013/14 season, winning the Grade Two Florida Pearl, beating Don Cossack in the process.

He went on to finish third in the RSA Chase at Cheltenham and the equivalent at Punchestown, but injury has kept him off the track since.

"He's coming along fine and will be ready for a run shortly," said Fahy.

"There's a race for him at Clonmel (February 4) or he could go to Fairyhouse.

"We're not pushing him, we'll see where he is and then make a plan from there. We're just setting him up for an easy comeback.

"His form in his novice year was top class and he's giving us every indication he's the same horse.

"Hopefully, when he runs, he'll show us that he retains all his old ability and then we can start planning what to go for.

"He's got Cheltenham entries but we might be thinking of Nationals, we just need to see how that first race goes."
