Robert Tyner plays it cool with Navan scorer Gurteen

Trainer Robert Tyner is in no rush to commit to future plans for Gurteen following his impressive display at Navan on Saturday.

The point-to-point winner chased home red-hot Supreme Novices' Hurdle favourite Min on his hurdling debut at Punchestown in December before he was switched into a bumper to go one better at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting.

He barely came off the bridle in winning back over hurdles at Navan, yet his trainer believes he will be even more effective on a sounder surface.

Tyner said: "We were delighted with him. He did it nicely.

"We've no plans made for him at the moment. We haven't discussed it yet so it's up in the air.

"We think he'll be better on better ground.

"His action suggests that should be the case, anyway."
