Thurles ground fears for Cheltenham Festival winner Salsify

Rodger Sweeney is in two minds whether to give his star hunter chaser Salsify his first run of the campaign at Thurles on Thursday.

The 11-year-old, dramatic winner of the Foxhunter Chase at Cheltenham in March 2013, was last seen being pulled up in last season's renewal, won by On The Fringe.

Salsify holds an entry in the Arctic Tack Hunters Chase but Sweeney feels the ground may be too heavy for him.

"He is entered on Thursday at Thurles but I don't know whether I will run him or not. He is just tipping away at the moment," said the County Cork handler.

"The ground would probably be a bit too heavy for him.

"We are just going to take it day by day with him."
