Two six-figure lots highlighted a successful first day of the Goffs UK January Sale at Doncaster with Point-to-Pointers and horses from the late Graham Roach Dispersal proving popular among the large crowd of buyers in attendance.

Today’s HIT session average grew 106% on last year’s figure to £12,879 with a strong clearance rate of 87% and 16 horses selling above last year’s top price. The aggregate also showed significant growth on last year, up 213% to over £1.4 million.

The £100,000 top price was achieved on two occasions, the first of which with a three-year-old Flemensfirth own-brother to the Grade 2 placed Sizing Gold (Lot 114 - pictured), who was purchased by Tom Malone and Paul Nicholls from the late Graham Roach Dispersal. Last start Point-to-Pointer Minella Encore (78G), from the yard of Colin Bowe, also sold for £100,000 to Eamon Phelan who bought the horse out of the ring.

The Point-to-Point session also saw the debut winner Black Pirate (78B), offered by Philip Rowley, sell to Bobby O'Ryan and James Ewart for £75,000. Debut winner Annie Angel (78L) from the draft of Maggie McKenna also sold for £75,000 to Peter and Ross Doyle out of the ring.

The second and last day of the Goffs UK January Sale will start at the normal time of 10am and will offer a strong catalogue of 137 NH foals followed by 45 NH mares.
