Love Dreams looked an exciting prospect when running out an impressive all-the-way winner of the EBF Stallions Spindrifter Conditions Stakes at Pontefract.
Just 12 days after making a successful debut at Hamilton, the Mark Johnston-trained colt had little difficulty in seeing off his three rivals.
Silvestre de Sousa had Love Dreams bowling along nicely in front and the 8-11 favourite was never in any danger as he pulled five lengths clear of Bolt Phantom, with Scofflaw just behind in third.
Johnston said: "He's still very green and Silvestre said it still felt first time out.
"That's the difficulty with him - h e needs a bit of experience, he's a slow learner at the best of times. He's just had two small-field races without really getting involved with another horse.
"I don't think we'll see the best of him for a while.
"There's little for him coming up. At the Newmarket July meeting there's either maidens or Group Twos.
"I wouldn't say it was impossible for him to go there, but I think it would be a tall order. I'm not sure how much he's learned today.
"He's a beautiful horse in the making, but he's still very inexperienced.
"He's got a lovely attitude, but he's just a baby. You saw it in the parade ring and in the race. He's got a lot of learning to do.
"It took him a while to learn the job at home and it's going to take a while on the racecourse, but he is a lovely horse for the future."
