Ralph Beckett rules out Moonrise Landing until next year

Ralph Beckett has been dealt a blow with the news that Moonrise Landing will miss the rest of the season.

The progressive filly, owned by former British Horseracing Board chairman Peter Savill, has won her last five races, including the All-Weather Marathon Final and a Listed race at York.

The Melbourne Cup had been under consideration, but all plans have had to be scrapped.

"Sadly she's injured, so you won't see her until next year," Beckett told At The Races.

"It's a shame, but it's a minor fracture and she'll come back."

Beckett's Royal Ascot winner Kinema looks set to appear next at Glorious Goodwood, but not in the Goodwood Cup.

"He's just come to himself and hopefully there's a bit more in the tank," said Beckett.

"He might run in the Glorious Stakes, I wouldn't be sold on going two miles yet."

One just touched off at Ascot was Bletchley in the Albany Stakes.

"The trouble with once-raced maiden winners is they often don't know enough and she just lacked the necessary experience to be street-wise enough to win," Beckett said.

"She could run in the Cherry Hinton (Duchess of Cambridge Stakes) next week, we'll see."

One who has not run up to scratch this year is St Leger winner Simple Verse.

"A filly like her, as she went all year from February through to October, often they don't reproduce it the following year," said Beckett.

"She's gone for a break and we'll think about the autumn."
