The Charlie Appleby-trained Jungle Cat was ridden positively from the start by William Buick, while Paul Hanagan delivered his challenge from wide aboard outsider Fityaan.
Eddie Lynam's multiple Group One-winning sprinter was held up by Ryan Moore before producing his customary late burst, but it was all too late as Fityaan narrowly outpointed Jungle Cat, with the Irish challenger just behind in third.
