Gordon Lord Byron could make his return in the Big Bad Bob Gladness Stakes at the Curragh on April 3 after Tom Hogan was forced to scrap a planned outing at Dundalk.

The eight-year-old enjoyed only limited success last term but he received a delayed boost to his form when Home Of The Brave was disqualified from the Minstrel Stakes after testing positive for a banned substance.

Gordon Lord Byron was duly promoted to first place but that victory means he is no longer able to run at Dundalk, prompting Hogan to switch his attentions to the Curragh Group Three event.

Hogan said: "He's no longer eligible for the race at Dundalk as Home Of The Brave's disqualification means he has a Group Three win.

"While we're happy with the Group Three, it does make life a bit more difficult.

"We will probably look to the Gladness Stakes with him now and he does have an option at Wolverhampton, but the Gladness might be for him.

"He's a bit burly at the moment, he's put on a bit of weight, so it might take a little bit to get him really ready.

"He's very well in himself though and we've had no problems which is good news."
