Royal Caviar and Burgas form a twin assault by Willie Mullins on Sunday's Irish Writers Kingsfurze Novice Hurdle at Naas.

The Rich Ricci-owned Royal Caviar was beaten on his first two jumping starts before making it third time lucky at Thurles in November.

He stepped up to Listed class on his latest appearance at Punchestown in January and ran with plenty of credit to fill the runner-up spot behind Gordon Elliott's subsequent Grade Two scorer Ball D'Arc.

The champion trainer's son and assistant, Patrick Mullins, said: "H e's a horse who has always worked very well.

"He was far too keen when he first started off over hurdles, but he's getting more settled now and the form of his last run has worked out well.

"He probably needs to step up to win in Listed class, but on his home work, we think he's well up to it."

French recruit Burgas impressed on his latest appearance, but connections see him more of a work in progress.

"Burgas is a big horse who got beaten on his first run for us, probably through a lack of fitness," said Mullins.

"He was a good winner in Thurles the last day and we're expecting him to improve again.

"Hopefully he'll run well, but for him it's all about next year as his physique suggests he'll be a better chaser than hurdler."

The Mullins pair feature in a five-runner field, with Robert Tyner's Gurteen looking to build on an impressive Navan triumph in January.

Elliott's Fairyhouse bumper winner Sutton Place returns to hurdling, while Henry de Bromhead's Attribution perhaps set the standard after chasing home the Mullins-trained red-hot Supreme Novices' Hurdle favourite Min in Punchestown's Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle.
