Top filly Quiet Reflection headed another big weekend for the Goffs UK Breeze Up Sale with a stunning win in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock while this year’s top priced Breezer, Prince of Lir, was also successful on his racecourse debut.

The Karl Burke trained Quiet Reflection seems to improve with every start and Saturday’s win was undoubtedly the best of her short career thus far as she produced an unmatched turn-of-foot to beat a good field of sprinters by almost four lengths. The three-year-old will now head to Royal Ascot where she will likely line up in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup.

Quiet Reflection was sold at the 2014 Silver Yearling Sale to Howson & Houldsworth Bloodstock from Jamie Railton for £32,000. She was then purchased by her trainer Karl Burke from Powerstown Stud at the 2015 Breeze Up Sale for £44,000. She has now won over £160,000 in stakes for her owners Ontoawinner, Strecker & Burke. Peter Swann’s The Cool Silk Partnership looks to have another Royal Ascot bound two-year-old with Prince of Lir who won his racecourse debut at Beverley, also on Saturday. The Kodiac colt saw off a competitive field to win by just over a length for trainer Robert Cowell and is likely to target either the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes or the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Prince of Lir was purchased by Emerald Bloodstock from Mount Eaton Stud at the 2015 Premier Yearling Sale for £40,000. He was then sold by Bansha House Stables to The Cool Silk Partnership and Stroud Coleman at April’s Goffs UK Breeze Up Sale for a sale topping £170,000. View his pedigree here.

Other Goffs UK sold Breezers targeting the Royal Meeting’s two-year-old features include Peter Swann’s two-year-old colt Prince of Cool, Qatar Racing’s Spy Ring and John Dance’s speedy Zebedee filly Tahoo.
