Michelle Payne could feature at Royal Ascot after the Melbourne Cup-winning jockey revealed plans to ride in Europe for two months.

Payne made history when she became the first woman to win the great Australian race with Prince Of Penzance.

Having already been recruited to ride at the Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot in August, the 30-year-old hopes to gain further experience in France and Ireland.

She told www.racing.com: " I'm heading off over to Europe for a couple of months.

"I'm heading over at the start of June, going to hopefully get a ride at Royal Ascot for Jane Chapple-Hyam and possibly OTI Racing.

"I'm hoping to travel around and maybe ride in Ireland and hopefully France, and then back to Shergar Cup at the start of August, before coming back for the (Australian) spring.

"It's going to be a lot of fun."
