Ralph Beckett hoping Mountain can reach new peak in Lingfield Oaks Trial

Ralph Beckett knows exactly what kind of filly is required to win the Betfred Mobile Oaks Trial Fillies' Stakes at Lingfield and in Mountain Bell he hopes he has unearthed another useful talent as he bids to chalk up a fourth victory in the race on Saturday.

Since first winning the Listed race back in 2007 with Kayah, the Andover handler has collected the prize on two other occasions with subsequent Oaks second Secret Gesture in 2013 and Honour Bound in 2014.

Although his representative in last year's race, Bellajeu, had to settle for second, Beckett is hoping Mountain Bell can go one better and build on her impressive maiden success on her seasonal return at Windsor.

He said: "She should be suited by the step up to a mile and three furlongs. I was delighted with her seasonal debut at Windsor and hopefully she can step up on that.

"She shows up well at home, but I didn't expect her to win like that. It may not have been the strongest race in the world, but she can only do what is asked of her.

"It was either this or the Musidora, but we decided to go for this. I think she will handle the track fine."

After Galileo Gold provided trainer Hugo Palmer with his first British Classic victory in the 2000 Guineas last weekend, the Newmarket handler will test the credentials of Nottingham maiden winner Architecture ahead of a potential trip to Epsom for a shot at the Investec Oaks.

He said: "She is a gorgeous filly with plenty of scope and I am pleased with what she has done over the winter.

"Obviously the first port of call is to try to get some black type with her. She has got the Oaks entry and hopefully she is special enough to go there.

"All these horses that are running in these trials, particularly maiden winners, are thrown in to see what they can do. I am pleased with what she is doing at home and I don't think she will have any problems with the track or draw."

While on ratings the John Gosden-trained Natural Beauty has got a bit to find with her five rivals, connections feel the race presents the daughter of Oasis Dream the ideal opportunity to pick up a bit of black type.

Bruce Raymond, racing manager to owner Saeed Manana, said: "I can't say she is going to win, we are just hoping she might have improved a bit to get placed.

"John said that as it is the sort of race that cuts up, it is the ideal race for that type of filly. He feels she could get some black type as it looks an easier race than others.

"I think she will stay and John's horses are running well. We are just hoping for the best and that now might be the time to nick some black type."

The field is completed by the Aidan O'Brien-trained Seventh Heaven, Capricious Cantor from the yard of Ed Dunlop, and Chinoiseries, who is the representative of David Simcock.
