Barters Hill pencilled in for Bangor return

Barters Hill is on course to make his first start over fences at Bangor-On-Dee a week on Tuesday.

Trainer Ben Pauling is to drop the six-year-old back down to two and a half miles for the Betdaq.Com 2% Commission Novices' Steeple Chase.

Having won all four of his bumpers and first four outings over hurdles, including last year's Challow Hurdle, the gelded son of Kalanisi tasted defeat for the first time in his career when finishing fourth in the Albert Bartlett on his final start at the Cheltenham Festival.

Pauling said: "Barters Hill is going novice chasing and the plan is to start him over two and a half at Bangor on October 25th.

"I almost stayed at two and half with him last year.

"I listened to a lot of experts and they thought he was an out and out three miler so I was more than happy to run him in the Albert Bartlett.

"I was more tempted at running in the Neptune than you may have thought."
