Bryan Smart looking to 2017 with Delectation after ruling out French run

Delectation will miss her intended outing in France on Friday after returning an unsatisfactory blood test.

Bryan Smart had declared the Firth Of Clyde winner for the Group Two Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte but a routine test showed the filly was not at her best.

"She's just not quite right so we'll wait until next year with her now," said Smart.

"Her bloods weren't right.

"We'll look for a Guineas trial, something sensible, and I'll decide by watching her nearer the time which one.

"It's unfortunate but she's a very nice filly and it would have been a long way to go to find out she wasn't at her best.

"She'll keep us warm over the winter, though, she's exciting."

Smart also has a colt who could run in a Guineas trial in Alicante Dawn, winner of a Listed race at Ripon.

"We wanted to run him in a sales race at Newmarket but he had sore shins," said Smart.

"He could come back in the Free Handicap, he'd get in that."
