Andre Fabre may be on the lookout for a new jockey for Vadamos in the Cox Plate after Damien Oliver was handed a 20-meeting suspension on Wednesday.

Melbourne Cup-winning rider Oliver was in action at Caulfield and was adjudged to have been guilty of reckless riding on short-priced favourite Flying Artie.

Oliver moved his mount out to challenge down the back straight, severely hampering another rival, Ken's Dream, ridden by Dean Yendall.

The stewards found Oliver guilty of reckless rather than careless riding which resulted in the more severe penalty, which is due to begin following Saturday's Caulfield Cup and end in time for him to return for the Melbourne Cup.

"If I stayed in behind the two stablemates, you and the punters would have been saying 'what are you doing behind them'," Oliver told www.racing.com.

"It was clear what they were trying to do.

"In nearly 30 years of riding I've never been charged with reckless riding.

"Dean Yendall is never not safe, he isn't near heels, I've just bumped him out of the way."
