Mouse Morris admits he is still getting to know Smashing ahead of his debut for the yard in Thursday's Irish Daily Star Chase at Punchestown.
The strapping grey, who is owned by Alan and Ann Potts, has been moved on to his third Irish trainer after spells with Willie Mullins and Henry de Bromhead.
The seven-year-old has won five times over fences already, with his only defeat last season coming in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham in which he was pulled up.
Morris said: "Obviously he's a nice horse to get, he's a lovely prospect.
"It's his first run over three miles so we'll just have to see how he gets on.
"He might need three miles now, we'll find out.
"When he came to me all his best form was with plenty of give, but he moves with a really good action so I can't see why he won't be as good on better ground.
"I know he pulled up at Cheltenham on better ground but he's going over three miles tomorrow.
"It will be good to see how he gets on."
Morris also runs Dromnea, who faces a stiff task judged on the weights.
"He's a good, honest horse but he'll be up against it," Morris added.
"I still maintain there's a big race in him somewhere."
Gordon Elliott is another to field two, Clarcam and Lord Scoundrel, who won the Galway Plate and still had a chance when falling at the second last in the Kerry National.
Enda Bolger's Federici and De Bromhead's Sadler's Rick complete the line up.
