Ballyoptic remains on course for the West Yorkshire Hurdle at Wetherby following his successful return to action at Chepstow on Saturday.
The six-year-old was unbeaten in three starts for Nigel Twiston-Davies last season, completing his hat-trick in the Sefton Novices' Hurdle at Aintree in the spring.
He made his reappearance in the fiercely competitive Silver Trophy and while his trainer expected his charge to improve from his comeback run, he secured a tenacious victory.
Twiston-Davies said: "He was really good.
"It was a prep run, really, so it couldn't have gone any better.
"He's come out of the race fine and that (Wetherby) is the idea."
