Juddmonte Farms announces retirement of Cacique

Cacique, the dual Gr.1-winning brother to Dansili and Champs Elysees, has been retired from stud duties due to continuing fertility problems.

The son of Danehill and outstanding broodmare Hasili made an instant impact as a stallion when his first crop, numbering only 29 foals, produced four Group winners and six blacktype horses, headed by Gr.1 winners Dominant, Slumber and Mutual Trust. The Gr.2 winner Canticum emerged from his second crop of only four foals.

Cacique’s last crop will be born in 2017.

“We are very grateful to all the breeders who have supported Cacique over the years,” says Stud Director Simon Mockridge. “Not only did Cacique live up to his pedigree on the racetrack but, by being one of three full brothers to produce a Gr.1 winner at stud, he also lived up to expectations as a stallion, despite a far from straightforward stud career.

“He is a horse with a huge amount of quality and a fantastic temperament - and he will now join Zamindar and Observatory in retirement at Banstead Manor.
