David Pipe has given Moon Racer the go-ahead to make his reappearance in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury on Saturday.

The 2015 Champion Bumper winner was last seen finishing down the field in a Grade One at Aintree last April and suffered a bout of colic over the summer.

Moon Racer is as big as 25-1 to make a winning return to action in the two-mile Grade Three handicap.

Pipe said: "We are going to let him take his chance. He is in good order and Tom Scudamore schooled him last week.

"We are pleased with him but, at the same time, he will come on for the run. He has had plenty of work and we have been pleased with what we have seen over the last 10 days.

"I think he is fit enough to do himself justice and obviously there is a nice time between Newbury and Cheltenham.

"I am surprised we have got him back as quick as we have as he had colic in the summer.

"Everyone has done a fantastic job with him and he looks very well."
