New author line-up announced for Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide

The Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide will be launched for an 18th consecutive Festival in 2017 with Matt Tombs returning as the primary author. Matt will also be joined by four new guest contributors - Lydia Hislop, Tony Keenan, Andy Gibson and Kevin Blake - all of whom will provide additional expertise and analysis.

The guide includes expert analysis of all 28 races, with additional focus this year on the most-profitable trends. Matt’s race-by-race analysis will then be supported by the new guest authors, providing a greater range of analysis for the reader.

The guest authors will be providing four new angles, starting with ante-post analysis and recommended bets from Andy Gibson. Elsewhere, greater insight into race tactics and how they are likely to be run will be provided by Tony Keenan.

Many horses hold multiple engagements at the Festival and this can cause punters huge problems. Lydia Hislop will seek to solve this conundrum, as well as analysing the all-important stable vibes.

The Irish challenge continues to go from strength-to-strength and this year’s guide will have a much stronger Anglo-Irish feel, thanks to the addition of top Irish racing expert Kevin Blake. His insight will explore the Irish challenge and how it stacks up against the UK contenders.

The new additions, which make it the most comprehensive edition Weatherbys has ever produced, will accompany popular features such as positive and negative trends; Rolls of Honour; and the Fresnhnessometer (new in 2016). Elsewhere, the ‘Major Players’ section is being re-vamped as an online-only service to ensure the information can be kept up-to-date. Last year we had the misfortune of going to print hours before Faugheen was ruled out through injury and the new online version will be able to reflect this, providing the customer with the most accurate information available.

Andrew Carter, Weatherbys Commercial Director, said: “Weatherbys are delighted to announce the new-look line-up for the 2017 edition of Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide. It’s a pleasure to be working with Matt for a second year after his fresh approach to the Festival trends was so well-received.

“The additions of Lydia, Tony, Andy and Kevin are very exciting. They give the guide added dimensions and opinions for the consumer. We are striving to produce the most comprehensive betting guide on the market and believe our guest authors will complement Matt’s analysis of each race.”

First published in 2000, the Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting is the original of its kind and will be published on 22nd February 2017.
